We have been offering free limited ultrasounds here at the Crisis Pregnancy Center since 1999, and it has been very rewarding for me personally to see how an ultrasound can affect the Mom (and Dad) of the baby.  It can be so reassuring to see the fetal heart beat.  It can also help with decision-making when the parents see a live, human being. Most of the time, the parents have no idea, so this information is very helpful.

Recently, we had a girl come in to talk about her options, and she requested an ultrasound to see how far along she was, and if she was truly pregnant.  It didn’t take long for her to see!

She was in college, and when she told her boyfriend that she thought she was pregnant, he left.  No help, no support, nothing.  Her Dad is out of state, her Mom busy with other children, but Grandma, as the client states, “always is there for me”.  She is praying for me, but I don’t think I can have a baby”.

We talked, and  Dr. Ellis came in and gave her an ultrasound.CPC ultrasound machine She saw the flickering of the heartbeat, but when she heard the fetal heart tones, she said that “It was amazing!  Just hearing the heart beat was so amazing!” Tears came to her eyes, and she said she didn’t need to hear anything more about options.  She wanted the information on healthcare, and our support programs.  She took the pictures of the ultrasound, but said that she would remember the sounds of the heartbeat all her life.

Decisions about life and death should never be made without all the facts. You have a right to know.  We are here to discuss all options, and also assess the viability of your pregnancy.  This is vital information for you to receive before any decisions are made.  We care about you, your health and the health of your baby.
