After the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, there has been a lot of confusion and uncertainty about what it means for women’s rights and healthcare, including here in Terre Haute.

If you are concerned you might be pregnant, be assured that your well-being is our top priority. As always, we are here to provide confidential and non-judgmental support as you navigate your next steps.

Is Abortion Illegal In All 50 States Now?

No. Overturning Roe v. Wade did not make abortion illegal throughout the United States. Instead, it means each state can determine its own regulations for elective abortion.

Can Women Still Get Treatment for Ectopic Pregnancy?

Yes. In all states, women will be able to receive necessary medical care for conditions such as ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage. There are no laws restricting this care.

Is Abortion Legal in Indiana Now That Roe is Overturned?

Yes. There are special legislative sessions happening to determine more details about abortion in Indiana, but as of July 2022, abortion is allowed in Indiana up to 20 weeks of pregnancy (or later if there is a health reason).

If you aren’t sure how far along you are, an ultrasound can provide you with this information.

What Do I Need To Know Before Getting An Abortion In Indiana After Roe v. Wade

Your health and safety are as important as ever.

Abortion Types and Your Eligibility

Medical abortions and surgical abortions are still available in Indiana after the reversal of Roe v. Wade

Do I Need An Ultrasound Before Abortion?

Having an ultrasound will confirm how far along you are so you understand what type of abortion you are eligible for.

For example, taking the abortion pill after 70 days of pregnancy or with an ectopic pregnancy is not recommended by the FDA, so you will want to have an ultrasound first to confirm that you are within the intended timeframe, and to learn if your pregnancy is ectopic.

Do I Need STD Testing Before Abortion?

STD testing is also a good idea, as having an untreated STD could increase the risk of complications following an abortion.

The Medical Clinic at the CPC is a full-service STD clinic and provides affordable STD testing and treatment.
